- SYNOPSIS: In the 1920's, Martin and Osa Johnson were international celebrities and America's foremost filmmaker-explorers. For SIMBA, they forded crocodile-infested rivers, braved stampeding elephants and stared down charging rhinos. The Johnsons' spectacular images of wildlife and remarkable portraits of members of the Samburu, Boran, Turkana, Meru, and other tribes are invaluable records of a lost world. James Makubuya's score reflects the traditional folk music of East Africa where much of SIMBA was filmed.
"Exciting...Remarkable shots of the mostly untamed jungle and veldt, the teeming animal life and the tribal villages." Los Angeles Times
