- SYNOPSIS: On holiday, Georg, his wife Anna and their son Georgie are traveling to their idyllic lakeside house. Their neighbors are already there. They have arranged to play golf together the next day. The weather is superb. While father and son are rigging up their freshly overhauled sailboat, Anna prepares supper. Suddenly, Georgie appears in the hallway and tells Anna that there is a stranger at the front door. The stranger is Peter, a young and evidently well-bred guest of Anna's neighbors. He stands at the door asking for a few eggs. However, Peter's initially polite attitude soon grows inexplicably belligerent and contemptuous. He is later joined by Paul, a pert and insolent young man, who begins to harshly patronize Anna. Taken aback by their audacity, Anna demands them both to leave at once, but they do not...nor do they have any intention to. When Georg returns home, a violent altercation erupts which results in the family becoming the unwilling participants in Paul and Peter's "funny games".
